Our History
Rockcliffe Airport, located in Ottawa, Ontario, has a rich aviation heritage dating back to 1918, when it served as a site for early Royal Air Force mail flights.
It later became a significant military base for the Royal Canadian Air Force and played a vital role during World War II as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.
For decades, the airfield supported military aviation operations before transitioning to civilian use.
Today, it is home to the non-profit Rockcliffe Flying Club and sits adjacent to the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, preserving its legacy as one of Canada’s most historic and storied airfields.
In 2018, CYRO became the oldest active airfield in Canada.

Our Mission
To establish a connection between the general aviation community and our nation’s capital.
To connect with the history of our Canadian aviation accomplishments
To foster inspiration for the next generation of aviators and the future of airport commercial innovation.
